What Electric Gate to Choose: Sliding Gate or Swing Gate?
Sliding Gate or Swing Gate: Which one better?

Electric driveway gates or Automatic gates are becoming increasingly popular among property owners as they provide both security and convenience while also enhancing the aesthetic value of the property. But when it comes to choosing the right type of gate, the decision between a sliding gate and a swing gate can be confusing. In this article, we'll compare the main differences between the two types of gates to help you make an informed decision.

Sliding Gates: Save Space and More

Sliding gates are a popular choice for properties with limited space, as they slide across instead of swinging open. This means that they don't take up any area while opening, making them an ideal choice for driveways with limited space. Additionally, vehicles can be parked close to the sliding gate, saving more space in the driveway.

Moreover, sliding gates are hardly affected by strong windy weather, making them a reliable option for properties located in areas prone to such weather conditions. However, the installation of a ground track is required for sliding gates, which may require the levelling and landscaping of the ground on both the opening and closing sides.

Swing Gates: Great for Narrow Driveways

Swing gates, on the other hand, don't require the driveway entrance to be levelled or concreted, as they don't need a ground track. This makes them a great option for narrow driveways, as they don't need any space sideways. Additionally, swing gates can be easily fitted with gate automation or gate motors, if they are already mechanically fit.

However, swing gates require some space to open, regardless of their swinging direction. This means that vehicles need to be parked away from the opening area of the gate. Nonetheless, automatic electric gates can be fitted with additional features, such as automatic closing, integrated magnetic locks, photo beam sensors, 4G GSM Gate Openers/ phone dialers, Wi-Fi switches, keypad entry, phone app control, and many more.

Choosing the Right Gate for You

When it comes to choosing between a sliding gate and a swing gate, it all comes down to your specific needs and requirements. If you have limited space and want to park your vehicles close to the gate, then a sliding gate may be the best option for you. On the other hand, if you have a narrow driveway and want a gate that doesn't require any space sideways, then a swing gate may be the better option.
